(Hieronder de voordracht zoals die is ingediend door GroenLinks)

GroenLinks will take on a slightly different approach. We will put forward two candidates. We present Marjolein Meijer for the Secretary General position of the EGP committee. Marjolein is our former Chair of the GroenLinks Party Board and part of the European Parliament election campaign back in 2019.

And our other candidate is Joost Lagendijk, for one of the general positions of the committee. Joost is a former MEP, lives in Istanbul and has his experience in Eastern Europe, Balkan and defence.

As both our candidates have such different and such strong profile, we consider this as the most straight forward and rich option for the EGP Council. Both of our candidates will bring something special to the committee. And as we face quite some challenging times, with the war in Ukraine Europe, the climate crisis, Covid and European Parliament elections knocking on our door, we want to take the opportunity to do things a bit different. Let us introduce both of them.

Marjolein

Is a strong leader and managed to get GroenLinks through challenging times. She was responsible for the campaign in the successful national elections of 2017 and local elections of 2018. She knows her way through the political landscape, she was our international secretary before and part of the European Parliament EGP elections campaign for the spitzenkandidaten in 2019. She is a real pleasure to work with, is a visionary leader, can think our of the box and is able to steer and motivate a bureau towards a new phase. It’s a joy and inspiring to work with Marjolein and we are proud to bring her forward for the SG position.

Joost

was very much appreciated as an MEP. His heart and energy were for the European cause, especially focusing on the Balkans and Eastern Europe. He can play a significant role in this region, he knows how to strengthen Green parties, including through the EGP. Joost was there when the first initiatives took place to build the EGP back in the ‘90.

He ran a couple of national and European election campaigns, writing Manifestos and knows his way around in Europe. Joost is a very relaxed and open person to work with, team player and aware of things are continuously changing and moving on. Joost lives in Turkey since 2009. He can spend a good amount of his time to the role of a general EGP committee member.
